India: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for nine highway projects in Bihar.
Mr Narendra Modi will also launch the Kartak Fiber project, which will connect all 45,945 villages in Bihar through optical fibre internet service.
These nine highway projects are said to include about 350 km of road length at a cost of Rs 14,258 crore.
These roads will pave the way for the development of Bihar and enhance better connectivity, facilities and economic growth in and around the state.

The movement of people and goods will also improve significantly, especially in the neighbouring states of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
In 2015, the Prime Minister announced a special package for significant infrastructure development in Bihar. This includes 75 projects worth Rs 54,700 crore, of which 13 projects have been completed, 38 are in the works and the rest are under DPR / Auction / Approval status.
Upon completion of these projects, all rivers in Bihar will have bridges in line with 21st-century specifications and all major NHS will be widened and strengthened.
Under the Prime Minister's package, the total number of bridges over the Ganges will be 17, with a capacity of 62 lanes. This way, on average, there will be a bridge over the rivers in the state every 25 km.
- These projects include the 47.23 km stretch of NH-31
- The Bhaktiyarpur-Rajoli section of the 50.89 km
- Bhaktiyarpur-Rajoli section of the NH-31 will cost Rs.
- The four lanes cover 54.53 km of the NH-30 in EPC mode at a cost of Rs 885.41 crore.
- 49 km of NH-131A in HAM mode
- Narainpur-Purnia division at a cost of Rs 2288 crore
- The 39 km Patna-Ring Road (Kanhauli-Ramnagar) six lanes of NH 131G under EBC mode at a cost of Rs.913.15 crore,
Construction of a new 14.5 km four-lane bridge (parallel to the existing MG Seth) at a cost of Rs. 2926.42 crore on the NH-19 at Patna,
Construction of new 28.93 km 4-way bridge across the river at a cost of Rs. 1478.40 crore in EPC mode
Kochi on the NH-106 with a 2-lane pavement shoulder and the construction of the new 4.445 km 4-lane bridge (parallel to the existing Vikramashila Sethu) will cross the Ganges on NH-131B at a cost of Rs.1110.23 crore.

(Kartak Fiber) is a valuable project covering 45,945 villages in the state of Bihar, which will enable the digital revolution to reach the far corner of the state.
The project will be implemented in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Public Service Centers (CSCs).

CSC has 34,821 centres across the length and breadth of Bihar state. In addition to implementing the project, they will use these personnel to provide optical fibre internet services to the general public in every village in Bihar.
The scheme will also enable the implementation of 1 WiFi and 5 free connections with government agencies like Primary Schools, Anganwadi Centers, Asha Workers, Jeevika Didi.
The project will make digital services like e-education, e-agriculture, telemedicine, tele-law and other social security schemes easily accessible to all Bihar citizens with a single click.
